Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH), Norway
The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) is an integral part of the central administration of health in Norway. NIPH is under the direction of the Ministry of Health and Care Services.
The Institute is a national centre of excellence in the areas of epidemiology, mental health, infectious disease control, environmental medicine, forensic toxicology and drug abuse. It employs around 800 staff with broad professional and technical competence.
NIPH collaborates closely with other medical and technical experts in the field of public health, both in Norway and abroad. NIPH is a WHO Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Meningococci. As such, it is involved in various projects regarding meningococcal disease in different parts of the world, especially in sub-Saharan Africa.
