The Navrongo Health Research Centre, Ghana

The Navrongo Health Research Centre, Navrongo is a research centre of the Ghanaian Ministry of Health, which has conducted many key epidemiological and intervention trials during the past decade.

It has worked closely with the Swiss Tropical Institute on studies of meningococcal meningitis and carriage surveys since 1998 and currently supports the longest longitudinal meningococcal carriage study worldwide. Navrongo has an experienced team.

The Centre holds records of the pattern of meningococcal carriage in the district over the past 10 years. It has a relatively well-equipped microbiology laboratory that can undertake culture, serogrouping and ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays). Navrongo has an established ability to handle, store and ship biological samples.
