MenAfriCar brings together partners from 12 developed and seven African countries.

The project is being coordinated by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), which has extensive experience in coordinating multi-centre trials in Africa. LSHTM is supported by three UK partners - the University of Oxford, (molecular epidemiology); the Health Protection Agency (HPA), Manchester, (serology); and the University of Bristol, (modelling and statistics).

Additional technical guidance is provided by centres in Europe and the USA, which have established links with the African partner institutions where the research activities of the consortium will be conducted.
