Data Management Trainee visits LSHTM
As part of ongoing capacity development for African partner members of the MenAfriCar consortium, Tsegaye Kumssa, Assistant Data Manager at Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI), was nominated to receive specialist data management training.
Tsegaye was invited to undertake a 3 month training placement, working alongside the MenAfriCar team at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). During his time at LSHTM, Tsegaye’s primary focus has been on learning the practicalities of operating the teleform data management system as well as learning different data management techniques.
In April, an opportunity arose for Tsegaye to undertake a short training visit to the data management unit at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, where he was able to learn about the application of mobile data management systems in collaborative research.
Tsegaye has also undertaken an LSHTM data management training course.
In June, Tsegaye is expected to undertake a second data management training placement, at the Kenya Medical Research Institute in Kilifi, Kenya.
