MenAfriVac Immunization Campaign Begins in Nigeria

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has announced the start of a large scale vaccination campaign against meningitis A.

During the first phase of the campaign, beginning on December 5, the NPHCDA hopes to vaccinate 17 million people in 5 high priority states: Zamfara, Katsina, Jigawa Bauchi and Gombe.

Next year, a second phase will focus on 14 more states.

The NPHCDA hopes to achieve a vaccination target of 79.5 million people between the ages of 1 and 29 before 2013.
