Capacity Development is an important component of MenAfriCar consortium. Funding for training of MenAfriCar team members in relevant subjects is available to each African partner institution.

Before the start of MenAfriCar studies, African partners were asked to identify subject areas and staff members to receive a scholarship to attend a training course in public health, epidemiology, microbiology, data management or other suggested areas according to the priorities of their institutions. In total, 16 people from 7 countries will be funded to attend courses in public health, epidemiology, microbiology, data management or project management.  

In addition, MenAfriCar will establish a network of laboratories across Africa which has the capacity to conduct research on other bacterial infections of importance.
